Fressnapf once again with a double-digit increase in turnover
In the 20th year of the company's founding, Fressnapf, Europe's leading retailer of pet food and accessories, has once again recorded a double-digit increase in turnover. In the 2009 financial year the Krefeld-based franchiser generated a turnover of just under 1.2 billion euros. This corresponds to a year-over-year plus of 12.2 percent. In Germany, traditionally Fressnapf's strongest market, the specialty chain generated a turnover of 830.9 million euros and continued its strong growth with an increase of nine percent. Fressnapf increased turnover by more than four percent in existing stores in Germany. And the company is experiencing even stronger growth in other European countries. In eleven countries in which Fressnapf largely operates under the name Maxi Zoo, 2009 was a year of exceptional growth, with a turnover of 356.1 million euros – an increase of 20.5 percent compared to the previous year. more...

Modern technology for environmentally-conscious operation
The future is over our heads – at least at Fressnapf, which operates its headquarters, including a 60,000 m² logistics centre in Westpreussenstr., Krefeld. To power the building in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner, Fressnapf has installed a modern, 22,000 m² photovoltaic system on the roof of its logistics centre at a cost of around three million euros. more...

Fressnapf on the World Wide Woof: Green light for the online shop!
Animal lovers don’t just go for walkies, they also go online - and now they can get rich pickings there too - Fressnapf, Germany’s leading retailer of pet food and accessories, is now offering online shopping. Alongside local stores and mail order shopping, pet lovers can now find everything they could wish for on the World Wide Web. Owners can now order exclusive Fressnapf brands, well-known animal products or unusual innovations by mouse-click at the brand new portal. Erfurt wins the “Golden Dog Bowl 2009”
Specialty chain Fressnapf has voted Erfurt as Germany’s most dog-friendly city. The Krefeld-based franchise company presented the capital of the state of Thuringia with the “Golden Dog Bowl”, awarded for the first time this year. Wiesbaden was a close second, followed by Bavarian metropolis Munich in third place. In the future, the “Golden Dog Bowl” will be awarded annually to the cities that show the greatest commitment to dog owners and their four-legged friends. Fressnapf surveyed 40 cities with over 200,000 inhabitants across 13 categories for the award. more...
