Fressnapf received two prestigious awards in March recognising its creative advertising.

The specialty chain received the Merkur Award for its “Mach glücklich, was dich glücklich macht” (“Make happy what makes you happy”) TV spot, created by Hamburg agency BrawandRieken, as well as out-of-home advertising realised by Troisdorf-based CD Werbeagentur. The award was presented during the 2010 Retail Advertising Summit, held from March 24-25th in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The Merkur Award was created by “Der Handel” trade magazine and conference organiser The Conference Group, and recognised selected companies for the second time this year. Winners were selected based on their creative innovation. The award is named after Mercury, the god of trade and messenger of the gods. With the award, the jury honoured Fressnapf for its “successful realisation of stories that play with the special relationship the target group has with its pets in a unique way”.

“We are thrilled that we could inspire so many animal lovers with our TV spot. The award confirms that we are on the right path with our marketing strategy,” said Managing Director Marc Lukies, responsible for sales, expansion and marketing, who accepted the award.

Fressnapf was also recognised for its print advertising for the seventh year in a row with a silver “Schau Schau” for its “Mach glücklich, was dich glücklich macht” campaign. The distinction is awarded annually by readers of “Ein Herz für Tiere”, “Geliebte Katze” and “Partner Hund”. Around 15,000 readers participated in this year’s poll, 5,000 more than last year. “We will never get tired of finding creative ideas in the race for this prestigious award. Thank you to all readers for voting for us again this year,” said Marco Theuring, Division Manager National Marketing, at the Schau Schau awards in Munich.
