Fressnapf celebrates first Bavaria Dog in Munich
A colourful festival for the entire family - this is what visitors to the first ever Bavaria Dog can expect at the Olympiapark in Munich on Sunday, 1st August. Fressnapf has organised numerous shows, activity stands, talks and plenty of entertainment for all dog lovers and their four-legged friends. "We are pleased that together with over 60 partners, we have been able to put together such a varied programme," says Günter Arndt, Fressnapf store owner in Munich and co-organizer of the major event.
Yvo Antoni, Günther Kaufmann and Günther Bloch on stage
Famous dog owners have already been announced - Yvo Antoni and his Jack Russell Terrier PrimaDonna will perform tricks and sign autographs for fans. The Cologne-born performer and dog trainer has been thrilling audiences with fast-paced, skillful performances with his dog PrimaDonna since 2009, when he won the RTL competition "Das Supertalent". Munich actor Günther Kaufmann, better known to many as bad guy "Sven" from Bully Herbig’s film "Wickie und die starken Männer", will also be at the first Bavaria Dog to launch the audio book "Samy und Floris" from the Munich Tiertafel. Dog and wolf expert Günther Bloch will give several talks on the relationships between humans and dogs, and humans and wolves. He will debunk misunderstandings between two and four-legged friends in an entertaining and expert manner and provide tips on dog ownership. Many more speakers will also hold talks to inform guests about different dog-related topics.
Obstacle course and flyball competition
Those who want to let out their energy will find several sporting activities at the Olympiapark in Munich - from an agility obstacle course, which tests our dogs’ and owners’ fitness, to dog safety training for children and a flyball competition. This team sport originates from the USA and challenges both dogs and owners. Every dog in the team must complete a hurdle race and then catch the flyball. They then sprint back and the next dog takes their turn. In the end, the team with the best time wins.
Fun for kids with a giant slide and much more
Younger visitors will also get their money’s worth at Bavaria Dog. Fressnapf has put together a colourful programme for children to let off steam - including a giant slide, a bungee run, a "hungry shark" bouncy castle, a milking competition, a nailing activity, face painting and many more surprises. Children can also bake their favourite canine a dog muffin to reward them after so much action.
Search for the Bavaria Dog 2010
Proud owners can nominate their dog for the title of "Bavaria Dog 2010". Dog magazine "DOGS today" is looking for the friendliest, fittest and most unique dog. After a preliminary round, ten finalists will come before a well-known jury on the events stage. The winner will appear on the front cover of "DOGS today".
Shows and entertainment
The Bavaria Dog 2010 might be at home on the catwalks of the world in the future. In any case, several canine models will show visitors the latest trends in fashion and accessories for four-legged friends. There will also be dog dancing, colourful flying discs with Frolic Frisbee Fun and the world première of two new dog sports - JAD dogs and danceball. Dog trainers Eve and Saksia Schwender will perform an entertaining clowning routine "Hot Dogs and Friends". The Bavarian Red Cross Canine Unit will demonstrate how they use a good nose to save lives in emergency situations. Dog owners can also find out about the proper diet for their pet at the weighing station at the Royal Canin stand or about dental health at the Pedigree Denta mobile stand. "Many dog owners see their four-legged friend first and foremost as a family member, not just an animal," says Günter Arndt. "This is why it was important to us that alongside plenty of fun, activities and entertainment, we also provide information about important dog-related topics at our partners’ activity stands and through talks at Bavaria Dog. The wellbeing of animals is something close to our hearts - and not just in our stores."
Culinary delights are naturally also provided at the Olympiapark in Munich. Visitors can choose from sweet and hearty fare, Bavarian specialities and international delicacies.
