Fressnapf gets into the spirit of Oktoberfest
Only a few more days until the traditional tapping of the beer barrel at the Wiesn in Munich. Fressnapf, Germany’s leading retailer of pet food and accessories, will give “zamperl”* something to bark about with its Oktoberfest products so that they can enjoy the 200th anniversary celebrations too. “Our four-legged friends have the right to a bit of beer tent atmosphere,” says Fressnapf spokesman Achim Schütz. “From Brotzeitstangerl pretzel sticks to Bierwutz or Wiesnschnapper sausages, we have introduced a range of treats to get canines in the Oktoberfest spirit.”
Hearty Oktoberfest treats for dogs
Oktoberfest sausages for every canine taste keep four-legged friends happy as their owners while away the hours in the beer tent. While owners enjoy a “mass” of beer and pretzels, canines can feast on Brotzeitstangerl pretzel sticks, giant country-style sausages or a chain of Wiesnschnapper wieners. And before it's time to move on to the next tent, four-legged companions have surely earned a bite to eat – such as Wastlbeisser “spaghetti” sausages or a hearty selection of four Bierwutz sausages.
Oans, zwoa, g’suffa – keep tails wagging with dog beer
Another highlight of the Fressnapf range is the original Schwanzwedler dog beer – the top export is sure to elicit a howl of pleasure from thirsty canine throats. While the wheat beer flows above, faithful companions enjoy an alcohol-free beverage under the ale-bench. Refreshed, four-legged friends can then bark along to Bavarian favourites in fine voice. And, the good news for dogs is that only owners get hangovers. While humans let their hair down with alcohol, their four-legged friends are happy to make do with the non-alcoholic version made from mouth-watering beef stock.
Search for the “Wiesn Zamperl 2010”
For even more Oktoberfest cheer in the home of the festival, Fressnapf Munich and Radio Arabella are looking for the “Wiesn Zamperl 2010”. Owners can send a photo of their dog in his or her best Oktoberfest garb to aktion@radioarabella.de until September 19th. Anything goes, and the more original the better – as long as your pet is happy wearing it. Dogs of non-Bavarian origin are naturally also welcome to enter. The most original dog will be nominated as the “Wiesn Zamperl 2010” and can look forward to a year’s supply of pet food. All photos submitted will be published at www.radioarabella.de.
*Note for Prussians and other non-Bavarians:
“Zamperl” are small dogs
