Animal lovers give paw: Fressnapf re-launches major fundraising campaign for German animal shelters
Specialty chain Fressnapf is launching the next round of its fundraising campaign “Ich gebe Pfötchen” (“I give paw”) to mark World Animal Day on October 4th. The money raised by the campaign will benefit the Deutscher Tierschutzbund (German animal welfare association).
In 2009, Fressnapf raised around 160,000 euros for the German animal welfare association with the campaign. This year, animal lovers can again “give paw” from September 29th to December 31st. “We hope that our customers will support our “give paw” campaign with the same enthusiasm as last year,” says Fressnapf founder and proprietor Torsten Toeller.
Here’s how it works - For one euro, animal lovers receive two stickers from any of the 770 Fressnapf stores across Germany. One is to write their name on and stick to the entrance door of the Fressnapf store as a sign of their commitment. The other sticker is to take with them to put on their car or refrigerator at home, for example. As a special incentive, all participants have a chance to win one of six Fressnapf travel vouchers each valued at 250 euros. Pedigree and Whiskas are also lending a helping hand to the German animal welfare association from the end of September to the end of December. By purchasing a Pedigree or Whiskas product, Fressnapf customers have the opportunity to fill the pet bowl of an animal in need. Consumers can fill a total of one million pet bowls. The joint commitment by Fressnapf, Pedigree and Whiskas goes by the motto “Together for the German animal welfare association”.
Registered users in the online Fressnapf community can also give paw electronically by exchanging “Tatzen” (paws) they have collected for a paw. One hundred “Tatzen” equals one 1 euro paw. Online paw-givers also enter the draw for one of six travel vouchers and in addition, have the chance to win one of 20 shopping vouchers, each valued at five euros. More information is available at www.fressnapf.de/pfoetchen.
“We are thrilled that the “I give paw” campaign will again be held in Fressnapf stores in 2010, and hope for plenty of animal-loving donors,” says Wolfgang Apel, president of the German animal welfare association. “The number of needy animals is constantly growing. German animal shelters are working at the very edge of their financial capabilities.” Fressnapf has supported the German animal welfare association’s animal shelters since 1996. The “give paw” fundraising campaign is an important part of this commitment.
