Fressnapf again one of the top franchise systems in 2010

Business magazine impulse has ranked German franchise systems: As in previous years, Fressnapf is again one of the top systems, placed second behind McDonalds. “With the company’s four pillars of growth – XXL experience shopping, services, internationalization and multi-channel retailing – Fressnapf offers its approx. 270 franchise partners in Germany a business concept with which we will claim and extend market leadership on a local, national and international level,” says Fressnapf CEO Torsten Toeller. “The Fressnapf system continues to develop at a breathtaking pace. We are constantly coming up with new ideas to enable the best possible business development for our partners in their stores.”

The award comes at a time of organisational restructuring, which will strengthen and expand Fressnapf’s international business and European presence. “Our strong position in the domestic market in Germany is a solid foundation for the expansion of our business model in other European countries,” says Toeller. The passion and dedication of our headquarters and franchise partners in Germany serve as a model for all of Fressnapf’s activities outside of German borders.

McDonald’s and Fressnapf are followed by the Town & Country system in third place. Every year, impulse carries out an extensive analysis to identify the 100 best franchisors. In 2010, the business magazine reviewed a total of 13 criteria such as earning potential, number of partners and partners’ expansion potential in three over-arching categories - the sustainability of the franchise concept, the sustainability of the business idea and the dynamism of the franchise idea. The jury awarded a maximum of three points for each criterion.

As a first this year, impulse editors also included the contractual agreements of the franchise systems in their assessment. impulse invited all franchisors to lay open their contracts – with an extremely positive response, the editorial team emphasises. Two thirds of the 100 franchise systems contacted sent in their contracts for examination.

impulse first published a ranking of the top 100 franchise systems in Germany in 2006. As in previous years, the analysis was also based on information provided by franchisors and the German branches of international franchise systems, as well as the expertise of jurors such as Professor Heinz Klandt from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel and franchise consultants Jörg Eckhold, Felix Peckert and Reinhard Wingral.
