Expansion with high pressure: Fressnapf has opened 19 new stores in the third quarter
From July to September 2010, Fressnapf, specialty chain for pet food and accessories, has raised the pulse rate of openings once again when compared to the first two quarters of this year: Across Europe, 19 new stores have got off to a start, eleven of them in Germany. Fressnapf is now represented in Europe with 1,114 stores, of them 777 in Germany.
The kick-off at the beginning of July was the opening of a Megazoo in the “Gewerbepark Nord” business park in Koblenz. The store has around 2,000 square metres of floor space and extends over two floors. A further Megazoo with 2,500 square metres opened its doors in Hanover. One Fressnapf XXL each was opened in Kassel und Giessen.
Fressnapf stores opened during July and August in Halle, in Lauf an der Pegnitz (Franconia) and in Troisdorf. The new Troisdorf store is the second store in that town and also has a small animal area and an aquatics department. New Fressnapf stores opened in Saxony’s Mittweida, in Bad Berleburg in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as in Velbert and Berlin in September.
Elsewhere in Europe, Austria leads the expansion in the third quarter, too, with three new openings in Gross-Enzersdorf, Kapfenberg and Neulengbach. Other new stores got started in the Danish port city of Horsens and in Hørsholm – around 30 kilometres away from Copenhagen. In France, one new store each opened in Mulhouse-Wittenheim and Avignon, and in Bolzano (South Tyrol) pet owners can shop in the future at Maxi Zoo, as the Fressnapf brand calls itself in other European countries.
