Fressnapf welcomes "Canine colleagues"

Download (535KB)
The Germany-wide "Canine colleagues" ("Kollege Hund") day on June 26, an initiative of the Deutscher Tierschutzbund (German Animal Welfare Association), was just a normal day at the office for pet products supplier Fressnapf - the 300 employees at the company’s headquarters in Krefeld can bring their dog to work every day. Fressnapf has developed its own special "canine etiquette" code to ensure that the flow of work is not interrupted and that there is good animal-human cooperation in everyday office life.

"We use the Deutscher Tierschutzbund’s day of action as an opportunity to show how we make having dogs in the workplace a benefit for both sides," explains Fressnapf spokesman Achim Schütz. "We love animals - this is our motto and it is only natural that we give our employees the chance to integrate their dogs into their everyday working life," says Schütz. Fressnapf’s many dog owners take active advantage of the opportunity - around 30 dogs were expected in the offices of the company’s Krefeld headquarters on the day of action alone.

The advantages for dog owners - as confirmed by studies - are clear. Four-legged friends calm nerves in stressful situations and make sure their owners get enough exercise and fresh air during breaks. And dogs, who are after all social animals, prefer being with their masters.

Further information about the "Canine colleagues" day of action is available from the Deutscher Tierschutzbund’s website at www.tierschutzbund.de.

Fressnapf invites journalists to visit its Krefeld headquarters on June 26 at 10 am to see for themselves how humans and dogs cooperate in the workplace.
