forsa study shows that organic is the way to go for Fressnapf
A representative forsa study of 1,000 pet owners commissioned by Fressnapf revealed that organic is the trend for pet food. Almost half (44 percent) of German dog and cat owners believe that buying and feeding their pets organic food essentially worthwhile and important in times of climate change and global warming. More than every tenth sees it as "absolutely worthwhile and extremely important". In addition, 60 percent of German dog and cat owners can imagine buying organic pet food in the near future - if they don’t already. Female pet owners are generally more open to the idea than males.
Do unto your pet as you would unto yourself
Long commonplace on supermarket and organic store shelves, pet owners can now find organic products at specialty chain Fressnapf as well. Owners who shop in the organic section want to be able to do the same for their pet - According to the study, every fourth pet owner that buys organic products for themselves or their families also feeds their four-legged family member organic pet food. The advantages of buying organic are the same for dogs and cats: Organic products have a fuller taste and are overall healthier.
Healthy and sustainable
The strongest argument and therefore critical for purchasing organic pet food for 31 percent of pet owners is that it is free of chemical, artificial and genetically modified ingredients. Organic pet food contains particularly many vitamins, is rich in minerals and has lower allergy risks.
The second strongest argument, according to the forsa study, is the environmentally-friendly production methods. "Buying organic pet food means good health for four-legged friends and the feeling of having done something good for the environment for their two-legged counterparts," says Fressnapf spokesman Achim Schütz, commenting on the results of the study. "Reason enough for us to take on this pioneering and trendsetting role in organic pet food with our ‘Bioplan’ brand."
Organic pet food on the road to success
The results of the study show that organic pet food has high growth potential. With dynamic development in the organic pet food segment, similar to the organic food market, the demand for environmentally sound dog and cat food is expected to increase significantly over the next few years. "Today, organic has long become a way of life. Being trend-conscious and environmentally aware is inseparable for ‘new greens’. With Bioplan, we now make this lifestyle available to four-legged family members", says Achim Schütz.
Bioplan - eat healthy, act responsibly, live respectfully
Fressnapf offers 100% certified organic pet food with its Bioplan brand. The range includes wet and dry food for dogs and cats, as well as Bioplan milk for cats. A new life-cycle line with special products for junior, adult and senior cats has been available since September 2008 and further Bioplan product launches are also planned for 2008.
