A giant bone: a gigantic symbol of a generous donation
A giant bone measuring around 2 metres in length is a gigantic symbol of a generous donation from Fressnapf and its private label MultiFit to Tiertafel Deutschland e. V., in the form of pet food worth 60,000 euros. Fressnapf spokesman Achim Schütz and Jörg Dräbert, Managing Director of the Düsseldorf Fressnapf stores, handed over the bone at the DogWalk in Düsseldorf on 5th May.
“The DogWalk is a wonderful way of supporting Tiertafel’s important work. We are happy to contribute almost 30 pallets of pet food to this good cause”, says Achim Schütz. Animal lovers walked their dogs in aid of the worthy cause not just in Düsseldorf but in 16 other German cities. For every kilometre walked, Tiertafel Deutschland received food from sponsors such as Fressnapf. This year, a total of around 2,500 people and their dogs took part and walked about 14,100 kilometres. In Düsseldorf, 189 dogs and their owners did not let the cold, wet weather put them off and walked around 1,400 kilometres.
In addition to the large food donation from Fressnapf headquarters, the stores in Düsseldorf also came up with a weighing campaign. The stores balanced out every kilo of bodyweight of the dogs that took part in the DogWalk 1:1 with food, which was also donated to Tiertafel.
The organisation Tiertafel Deutschland e.V. was founded in 2006 and gives free food to pet owners who are struggling to look after their animals properly, based on proof of need. There are now Tiertafel distribution points in 24 cities.
Fressnapf has been dedicated to animal welfare, and to helping pet owners in need, for many years now. The company and its franchise partners have been supporting various Tiertafel Deutschland e. V. distribution points with food donations since 2007 and cooperate as partners in Tiertafel events. Fressnapf has been supporting the Deutscher Tierschutzbund e. V. (the German animal welfare association) since 1996. Fressnapf stores also regularly support animal shelters with food or donations in kind and organise special campaigns for the shelters.
